Statement on Reading First Implementation

“The School Division of the Association of American Publishers (AAP) welcomes the U.S. Department of Education’s recent review of the implementation of Reading First grants. (ED-OIG/I13-F0017.) We believe the Inspector General’s report and recommendations will go a long way in correcting a number of problems with Reading First, which is designed to deliver highly effective research-based reading programs into American classrooms.

2006 Annual Meeting: Forging the Future: Publishers, Policy and Practice

The AAP School Division recently completed another successful Annual Meeting. About 175 publishers and others involved in pre-K- 12 educational publishing attended this conference. Mr. Steve Driesler presented School Division's 2005 Year In Review report. As in previous years, publishers heard Peter Appert's 2006 Economic Outlook for Educational Publishing.
