AAP Honors
Inaugurated in 1997, the AAP Honors are intended to acknowledge the contributions of individuals and organizations that have helped focus attention on American books. Among past recipients are Oprah Winfrey, for her efforts to bring works of literary excellence to a wide audience; C-SPAN founder Brian Lamb, whose cable network devotes its entire weekend coverage to books; country music star Dolly Parton, for her efforts to improve the lives of children through books; National Public Radio, for ongoing excellence in book coverage; CBS Sunday Morning host Charles Osgood, for outstanding work in promoting American books and authors; NBC’s Today Show with Andrea Smith and Ann Curry for their wonderful work in profiling books; Jorge Ramos, Anchorman for Noticiero Univision for his unique and outstanding work in promoting books, authors, and reading in the Latino community; and USA Today for its exceptional work in promoting American books and authors.
