Online Usage Statistics: A Publisher's Guide
Online Usage Statistics
A Publisher's Guide
Online usage statistics are now part of the lives of most members of the scholarly publishing community. In response to the issues surrounding understanding usage data, the Electronic Information Committee of AAP's Professional and Scholarly Publishing Division has compiled a guide to help publishers understand important emerging trends. All too often, online statistics are automatically generated by technical systems and then interpreted and applied in confusing and conflicting ways. Yet these data are powerful tools that can help authors, editors, publishers, librarians, marketers, and everyone involved in the publishing enterprise effectively shape and use valuable information products. This book is intended to provide a framework for asking the right questions about online usage and getting the answers that count.
