Thursday, May 22nd, 2008
12:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m.
Association of American Publishers
71 Fifth Avenue (between 14th & 15th Streets)
New York, NY
Who Should Attend: Anyone involved in Journals Management: Sales, Marketing, Circulation, Fulfillment or Editorial.
Publishers recognize that librarians need to prioritize when making title selections. There are many tools and methods, as we know; but which are the best ways to reach librarians, and so reach our readers? Join us and hear firsthand from several librarians on the measurements, the metrics, and to what extent these various tools are used.
If you want the answers to the following questions and issues then this seminar is for you:
- Who makes the selection, who is involved in the process and to what extent?
- Is cost the determining factor?
- How heavily do librarians rely on ISI’s impact factors?
- How heavily do librarians rely on COUNTER statistics?
- To what extent is aggregated online hosting a determining factor?
- To what extent does bundling and consortia packaging affect decisions?
- Do processes vary based on discipline?
- Are there other determining factors the publisher should think about?
This will be an interactive session, so bring your questions for the panelists.
