AAP Applauds Creation of New Anti-Piracy Caucus
AAP issued a statement on October 21 commending the Senate and House members who have joined in creating a new bipartisan caucus that will focus on the growing threat of copyright piracy abroad. Founding members of the Bicameral Bipartisan International Anti-Piracy Caucus are Senators Joseph Biden (D-DE) and Gordon Smith (R-OR), and Representatives Bob Goodlatte (R-VA) and Adam Schiff (D-CA).
“AAP looks forward to working with the Caucus to educate Congress and the public regarding the increasing problem of overseas piracy faced by the copyright industries,” AAP President Pat Schroeder said. “Rampant commercial photocopying, book piracy, and increasing electronic piracy of books and journals are serious threats to book publishers…The problem is especially acute for our member publishers throughout Asia,” she noted, and the creation of the Caucus “offers a unique opportunity to bring attention to these problems.”For more information contact:
