AAP'S PRESENCE AT BOOKEXPO AMERICA 2012 INCLUDES MORE LIBRARIAN EVENTS

New York, NY and Washington, DC; June 4, 2012 — The Association of American Publishers will expand its presence at this year’s BookExpo America with four events for librarians as well as a session showcasing the new elements and services of BookStats 2012 and recognition of the four winners of the Independent Book Blogger Awards competition. Its partners for sessions include the Book Industry Study Group, Goodreads and Library Journal.
BookExpo America, the US publishing industry’s foremost gathering, will be held June 5-7 in New York.
AAP’s events for librarians have been designed to connect them with authors, inform them about publishers’ coming new releases and let them share information and ideas with others in the publishing community. The sessions, produced by the AAP Trade Libraries Committee, are:
“What Librarians Wish Publishers Knew: They Build…Book Buzz!”
Tuesday, June 5 — 10:00-10:50AM, Room 1E11
At this original session, a panel of librarians will present strategies for reader engagement and literacy through programming, online and in-house promotion.

On Monday, June 4, AAP recognized the winners of the first Independent Book Bloggers Award competition, co-sponsored with Goodreads. This was held ahead of the BEA Bloggers Conference keynote by author Jennifer Weiner. Winners were announced May 16 and are Insatiable Booksluts (Adult Fiction category); Sophisticated Dorkiness (Adult Non-Fiction); The Nerdy Book Club (Children’s/Young Adult) and Writer Beware Blogs!
